Security & privacy · ISO 27001 Penetration Testing
ISO 27001 penetration testing mapped to Annex A
Evidence for your certification and surveillance audits. We test the technical controls behind your Statement of Applicability and map every finding back to Annex A.
Does ISO 27001 require a penetration test?
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 does not explicitly require a penetration test. However, Annex A control 8.8 (management of technical vulnerabilities) and control 8.29 (security testing in development and acceptance) expect you to find and fix technical weaknesses, and an independent pentest is the most common evidence certification auditors see for both.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022
The controls a pentest supports
A.8.8
Management of technical vulnerabilities. Identify vulnerabilities, assess your exposure and take appropriate action.
A.8.29
Security testing in development and acceptance. Define and run security testing before systems go live.
A.8.27
Secure system architecture and engineering principles. Threat modeling shows security is designed in, not added later.
Clause 6.1.2
Information security risk assessment. Test results give your risk register real, current data.
How we help
AI-native testing, verified by experts
Scope from your ISMS
We scope the test from your ISMS boundaries and Statement of Applicability so results drop straight into your audit pack.
Test what attackers target
Web apps, APIs, cloud and network, tested by agentic AI for coverage and by researchers for logic flaws and chained attacks.
Map findings to Annex A
Every finding references the related Annex A control, so your risk treatment plan writes itself.
Retest before the audit
We verify fixes and document remediation status before your certification or surveillance audit.
What you receive
- Report with findings mapped to Annex A controls
- Risk ratings you can carry into your risk register
- Retest results and remediation evidence
- Executive summary for management review
FAQ
ISO 27001 Penetration Testing questions
How often should we pentest for ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 is risk based, so the standard does not fix a frequency. Most organizations test at least annually and after significant changes, and auditors expect you to justify your choice.
Can the same pentest cover SOC 2 and ISO 27001?
Yes. One well-scoped test can serve both. We map findings to Annex A and to the SOC 2 criteria in the same report.
Do you help with threat modeling for A.8.27?
Yes. Our threat modeling service produces data flow diagrams and STRIDE-based threat registers that serve as secure architecture evidence. You can also try our free Threat Model Studio.
