Security & privacy · NIS2 Penetration Testing
NIS2 security testing that proves your measures work
NIS2 makes management accountable for cybersecurity. Penetration testing and threat modeling give you hard evidence that your Article 21 measures are effective.
Does NIS2 require penetration testing?
NIS2 (Directive (EU) 2022/2555) does not use the words penetration test in its core text, but Article 21(2) requires security in development and maintenance including vulnerability handling, and policies to assess whether your risk-management measures are effective. Penetration testing is one of the most direct ways to show both. For digital infrastructure and ICT service providers, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2690 sets out security testing in more detail.

FAQ
NIS2 Penetration Testing questions
Does NIS2 apply to UK companies?
NIS2 is EU law. UK organizations fall under the UK NIS Regulations 2018, which the government plans to strengthen. UK companies that serve EU customers may still be asked for NIS2-style evidence through supply chain requirements.
How do national NIS2 laws differ?
Each EU member state transposes NIS2 into its own law, so details and timelines vary. We map testing to Article 21 and you or your counsel confirm national specifics.
How often should we test?
NIS2 is risk based. Annual testing plus testing after significant changes is a common and defensible baseline.
